Caitlin Applegate earned a BFA in Printmaking and Ceramics from the Hartford Art School. After several years of independent study and teaching, Caitlin moved to Lincoln, NE to pursue a Masters degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln; earning a MFA in the spring of 2007. Caitlin went on to work as an artist in residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, NE. In the fall of 2007, Caitlin was awarded an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant. During the 2008-2009 school year, Caitlin taught SUNY Cortland and the Cornell Ceramics Studio. In the year following, Caitlin commuted from the Bronx to work as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Visual Arts at the Penn State University Park Campus. Throughout this time, Caitlin maintained an active studio practice. Presently, Caitlin is a resident artist at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY. Caitlin’s work has been exhibited both regionally and nationally; including solo and group shows at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia, The Leedy Voulkos Art Center in Kansas City, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and the Sheldon Museum of Art in Nebraska.
