Rebekah Bogard explores the idea of “cute and
girlish” iconography to redefine stereotypes that
apply to young women. She sees these images
as part of a visual language used to typecast
girls as weak, naïve and sweet; characteristics
that make them socially vulnerable. The artist
received her BFA from the University of
Wyoming and an MFA from the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas. She has been named an
“Emerging Artist” by Ceramics Monthly
Magazine and her work has been reviewed in
such other publications as Clay Times, Las
Vegas Weekly and the Portland Press Herald.
