Mary Zicafoose has spent the last 22 years in pursuit of visual surprises on the flat woven "rug" surface through dye processes, tapestry techniques and intriguing color play. Zicafoose blends cultural icons and symbols with a contemporary hand, creating powerful visual statements in fiber. She also translates these ethno-contemporary rugs into vibrant prints. The artist earned her BFA from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana, and graduate studies include the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Nebraska. Her tapestries and rugs span the globe and are included in the collections of United States Embassies on three continents. Her work has been reviewed in publication such as The Smithsonian Magazine, The Washington Post and Fiberarts Magazine. Zicafoose lives and works in Omaha.
