Jacqueline Gordon
Bemis Center Residency: September 2 - November 26, 2008
Discipline: Multimedia

Surrounding contemporary folk aesthetics with multiple layers of sound, Jacqueline Gordon creates mixed media installation pieces that form entirely new psycho-acoustical mythologies. Sometimes taking on the guise of pseudo-sensory deprivation chambers where overlapping sounds are your only companion, her quilted, crocheted, vinyl-padded, fiber-filled constructions become experiential utopias where space, time, sound and vision are bent to induce awareness-heightening reveries. The installation/performance artist is a former resident at the New York Studio Program (2002) and a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute (2004). She has shown work and performed throughout California and in New York. Also a musician, her San Francisco-based band, 0th (pronounced 'zee-roth'), is set to release its first album.
